Has anyone converted their car to run on Hydrogen and Gas together?

My neice has told me there is a guy in their church that has converted his truck to run on part hydrogen and part gas, using glass jars under the hood with water and baking soda.

Have you ever heard of this, or have tried it, to save gas? She said that it will boost your gas mileage almost double. This is no joke, it is for real. Something to really look into.

I have seen people on the Internet who claim the same thing, offering to sell instruction on how to convert you Autos, but have yet to talk to anyone who has.

It's a scam.  The process uses the car's gasoline to separate the hydrogen atoms from the water, then burns the hydrogen.  You can't increase your fuel efficiency that way - it would defy the laws of physics.  You're using the same energy from the same gasoline, except instead of burning it directly you're using it to separate the hydrogen and then burn that.  So overall you're going to decrease your efficiency.

If people claim it improves their mileage, it's probably a placebo effect.  They know the system is in place, so they subconsciously drive more efficiently (not as fast, etc.) because they want to see that mileage improvement.

I've never heard of people doing conversions themselves, but I know of A company that will be making kits very soon. http://www.switch2hydrogen.com/ . This is part of http://www.unitednuclear.com/. Hopefully within the next year they will have kits to make gas-hydrogen hybrids.

I don't know if it would boost gas mileage directly, but it would allow you to make fuel from water for free.

Yes, I have and several friends, co-workers and family members.

There are many factors involved in whether an HHO generator will work well or not. The major factors are:

1. what are the electrodes made of, how well will they conduct electricity and how quickly will they corrode?

2. What electrolyte mixture are you using in the water (electrolyte is required to make the water conduct electricity to split the hydrogen and oxygen)

3. how much oxygen are you involving in the gas out to the engine?

4. How many o2 sensors does your vehicle have and how will they react to the extra oxygen they will detect? (sometimes the o2 sensors will detect more oxygen and increase your fuel ratio to compensate for it - I personally have not had this problem, but have heard others record it)

Speaking from my personal experience with the generator I built, I have literally TRIPLED my gas mileage.

Potential hazards include:

1. Chance of exploding HHO gases if mis-used.

2. Blowing fuses.

3. Water damage to the exhaust over time.

4. Water in the engine - if you are really really careless.

A 20% increase could easily be a placebo effect.. a 120-300% increase is nothing to scoff at.
