For many people who practice this, it is the LAST thing they EVER do.  If you see a death notice in the local paper about a young guy unexpetedly "committing suicide" it's a 50/50 chance it was really autoerotic asphyxiation gone wrong.  Knots designed to be quick release simply jam up, a chair is just too far away to reach, and the lack of oxygen screws up your ability to think straight.  If you have a simply overwhelming urge to try this, then get a buddy (preferably an RN!) to watch you while you do it, and be ready with equipment to resuscitate you.  It's not EVER a game to be played alone.
