Has anyone done GCSEs at home?

I am having some trouble at school and my mum is currently considering withdrawing me and then I can take my GCSEs at home. Im in year 10 and ive already started my GCSE courses, but im struggeling with art and music, but my school wont allow me to change them. Has anyone done there GCSEs at home? Did it work?

  1. Yes, lots of people study for GCSEs from home.  The problem is that it's expensive - even if you do your own studying with a text book and online resources, you have to pay for a place to sit the exam as a private candidate.  You also either need to do an IGCSE course (no coursework - just the exam) or else you need to find someone who can validate your coursework, and that too can be expensive.  

    You could also take GCSEs at adult education classes, or wait a year and do them at sixth-form college.
