  1. Just to offer some pros/cons..

It does not verify specific names or places.  I am working currently with a local person, who did testing via one company. It came back that she "matches" with a young lady in Maryland, thus proving there is a relationship.. but it does NOT show exactly how far back.. simply that it is matrilineal based.  The young lady was abandoned as an infant, and parents never located.  The lady here has a brick wall, concerning her mother's parentage, that we are struggling to break.

I haven't had one done, but I would suggest that it is still important to have the paper trail to work with.  In some cases, it CAN make or break that paper trail, when used as comparison to existing information.

  2. no sorry

  3. No, I can thoroughly recommend Family Tree DNA though

they are the largest and most experienced company.

You can find out about them and testing etc., at :-

    http://familytreedna.com

  4. I had mine done - a Matrilineal DNA test,  as a birthday present, with Oxford Ancestors (Professor Brian Sykes) a couple of years ago.

This gave me a Clan Mother, not one of the accepted "Seven Daughters of Eve" but a source called "Una" some 17,000 years ago East of present day Moscow.

Still hoping for someone to link up with me so that we can maybe compare notes.
