  1. Waste of time.. Tooooo time consuming for bloody pictures etc!!

  2. i am doing art GCSE at the moment i started at the beginning of the year.depends what kind of project you do and how well you stick to the task. apparently individual ideas help and all those Assessment objectives help you get a good grade. It doesn't take up that much time if you get on with it in lessons, i hardly ever do any work outside school apart from photographs (even if that isnt really a great way to do it)

but you dont have to be amazing to get a good grade

  3. yehh it really is hard work it can be fun aswell

you have to have a lot of patence and have to be more then just a good painter lol :)

hope you make the right decison :)

  4. well, for me...i wouldn't say it's too hard, but sometimes it can be a little depressing when your teacher tells you that what you're doing isn't going to get you the top marks....so you work you pants off to improve it and then finally when it's finished it feels so amazing like some weight's been lifted....and then you start all over again with a new project

i guess you shouldn't be scared of hard work itself because that does not matter when you've got a clear idea in your head and make good use of lesson time...but what you should be scared of is being demotivated by your teacher or some other critics which makes you not want to do anything in the first place...i think that's the only downside really + it can be quite fun when you're bored and you don't have to be the next picasso to get an A*

    good luck :)

  5. As long as you have a positive attitude, imaginative and will stick to things when it gets hard, you will do fine.

A positive attitude is needed because it is like 75% coursework. Coursework being lots of repetitve drawings, paintings, and whatever else your teacher decides to do with your class. The constant drawing the same things does get boring, but that it where the imagination will be applied, to make each picture as different yet as similar to the original as possible. Also, the exam piece is mainly your ideas and thoughts on the chosen topic. So the positive and imaginative attitudes will be tested here a lot.

Because most of the course is mainly coursework, this could get very boring as it seems like you haven't really done much. But when it comes to the course being finished, and all the work being displayed for people to see, thats when it sets in that the hard work was definately worth it. Even if you aren't too good at art compared to some people, just seeing it up makes it look so much better.

It does take up a lot of time, but as long as you stick to it and think of the final display when the course is over, you should do fine.

Good luck with it, and most of all: enjoy it! There will be something somewhere in the course that you will enjoy, even if that is just the final exam piece. :)

  6. I sat mine in the days before course work with no training at all and still passed, and it proved very useful for my later career. I wouldsay only do it if yu are interested in art and design, though.

The coursework can be a bit of a faff, I imagine, but I think it is probably a matter of tackling it efficiently, and more interesting than a lot of subjects.

  7. As others have said, it is a lot of hard work and you have to stay on top of projects unless you want to be up until the unearthly hours of the morning trying to finish everything for the next day.

However, it is fun if you're passionate about art. If you're naturally good at it and make sure you complete all the coursework, you should get a decent grade, which will take some of the pressure off when you're revising for the other subjects such as science and maths.

  8. It is quite a lot of work, but I managed Applied Art and Design, which is double the work, and I still managed, so it's not too bad.

  9. yep, I did it years ago and it really is an awful lot of work. I'd only advise doing this subject if you're certain it's what you want to do, it's definitely not an easy option!
