  1. i think so...,dude

  2. TFA is highly.. *highly* selective. see this:

"This year’s corps members were chosen from a pool of more than 18,000 applicants from some of the country’s most respected colleges and universities, including 11 percent of the senior classes at Amherst and Spelman; 10 percent of those at University of Chicago and Duke; and more than eight percent of the graduating seniors at Notre Dame, Princeton and Wellesley. Among the 2007 applicants were the student body presidents of Bowdoin, Spelman, Wellesley and Tufts; the president of the senior class at the College of the Holy Cross; and the presidents of the student and class councils at Brown and George Washington universities, respectively"

So the answer to your question is that any answers here do not matter. They want candidates who *want* to be a part of the program - and there are heavy interview and pre-requirements to weed out those who would ask for pros and cons of the system.

If TFA is for you - you will know it as one of your Universities leaders.

    *edit*

you didnt like my source. nothing wrong with getting information - but I do work with TFA'ers who come through my school and the program is like I said - selective. two more sources for you to discount:

"All speakers Monday night warned that the task is challenging. Out of about 75 applicants in the two years that Pitt has been involved in recruitment, only about two have been accepted each year, according to Nancy Reddy, the Pitt coordinator for Teach for America. The program seeks proven student leaders from student organizations, private jobs or volunteer work, as well as motivated and challenge-oriented individuals. Although the base QPA requirement is a 2.5, the national average is closer to 3.5."

"Today, Teach for America is as selective as an Ivy League school, turning down four of every five candidates."
