  1. We did this package about 5 years ago to introduce our young daughters to cruising.  The Disney cruise was the most expensive we have taken to date.

The short cruise aboard the Disney cruise line was great for the very young girls (ages 5 and 7 at the time).  The cruise portion is Mickey Mouse overload!

Be aware...the Disney cruise is not an adult cruise that accomodates children...it is a children's cruise that accomodates adults.  Even the dining rooms are decorated to please children.

The kids had a great time.

I found that the combo trip did not give us enough time to enjoy the parks.  We missed more than we saw.

As far as the cruise portion goes, it depends on the ages of the children.  Older kids are turned off by all of the Disney characters hugging them and wanting to take pictures with them.

We will go back to Disney but with my girls now a pre-teen and an teen, we go on Carnvial cruises.  They love the 24x7 pizza and ice cream.

  2. It is difficult to answer if $1000 per person is worth it to you.  It really depends upon what you want from your trip.  Have you considered staying in WDW and then going on a cruise on a different cruiseline out of Port Canaveral?  This is what I did a little over a year ago.  We sailed on the Carnival Fantasy...because we liked the itinerary.

I did sail on the Wonder last September for the 10 night Southern Caribbean cruise and it was great....a little too much Disney for us though.

But, you might want to look into the Disney hotel and park package...and cruising on a different cruise line...it is most likely less expensive, and still a nice experience.

Either or, whatever you decide, I am sure you will have a GREAT time!
