Question:

Has anyone done the dog intelligence test?

It's on the Purina website. My GSD,Lulu scored a perfect 20,my Maggie Mystery Mutt scored an 11 ( but she's very good-looking),and my poor little dachshund/cocker mix, Levi,is a complete idiot,I'm afraid! But he is nearly 16,so he's to be forgiven for age-related simple-mindedness!!

Try it,it's fun and only takes a few minutes.

  1. I know I won't get anywhere with these Afghans..they don't think as a dog should.

I gave my little doxie/silky mutt the Volhard K9 test, and she tested TOP score for police K9...lol..Can you just see a 20 pound K9 cop !!

But the darn thing took on a cougar, so I guess she thinks she can handle anything. .(it acted as if it didn't see her, so she thinks she chased it away..Shhhh)

  2. this is stupid i spent 45 minuste to do it all over again and the whtie thing is so slow i wish i never did

  3. I will have to do this when my dogs are awake. They are both asleep(wish I was too) but I'm not tired.

They are both very smart. I think they would ace this test.

  4. Heh!

My dog is completely indifferent to treats - She'd fail miserably, as she just couldn't care less.

  5. EVERYONE on that video looked JUST like their dogs. I'm not even kidding.

Max scored a perfect 20, Roxy scored an 18 (the towel bit backfired and she decided she'd rather sleep!), Sparky had an 18 too, he cheated on the table bit. he knocked the table over then took the treat.

    :)

  6. hehe...thanks!! I'll try it and edit in the results...Just a minute!!!

EDIT: Okay, Dave the wonder dog got a 16/20!!!!

He is a guide dog in training, so I expected a perfect score!

hehe....My excuse for him is that when a piece of food is on the floor, he isn't supposed to touch it, not even a treat! So in my book, he got a perfect score! His trainer would be happy!

    P>S...thanks for the fun!!!!!!!

  7. Lol, that video was funny. I might do that test on my dog someday, but they're supposed to be 12 months old, and my puppy is only 4 months old. She hasn't learnt her name yet properly either.

  8. LOVED Ty. He's adorable.

The Puggle made me wince, though.

I'll have to test Coby in the morning... right now, he's fast asleep. :]

    Thanks for the link, though!

  9. Princess my 6 year old Toy Poodle mix got a 19.

Holly my 7 year old Pomeranian/chihuahua mix got a 17.

I decided to do it with my 6 month old German Shepherd even though she isn't old enough and she got a PERFECT 20!

my 3month old jack russell i didn't even bother doing it with her.

  10. now that is funny i am gonna have to try that when Beej is old enough.

At least the bulldog beat out the puggle lol and at 16 Levi is more than allowed to be absent minded. Odds are he was actually too smart to want to play a silly human game like the others.

ADD: as i said smart dog just a bit cagey like any other person of advanced age. And why do what others can do for you? Of course I am sure he might have dozed off if it was there long enough
