I live in Arizona and javelina run wild in my yard. I was wondering if it would be against the law for me to catch one and cook it. Also please include if you have eaten one and what they taste like.

  1. They look like a miniature version of what I would call wild boar, which is called Javali in Portuguese.

A US government site for Arizona, states:

Homeowners have a legal right to use all reasonable measures to protect their property from damage

by wildlife, but those measures shall not include

capturing, injuring or unlawful killing of big-game

animals. Javelina are classified as big-game animals

in Arizona and are protected by state law. If you do

not want javelina in your yard, it is your responsibility

    to keep them out.

A pity because they make nice eating. A cross between beef and pork.

You could see if you can obtain a licence to hunt them.

  2. Is it me ?  ........ What the h**l are Javelina ?? Send us a picture or describe them. I reckon if you can cook it, then you can eat the little buggar !!
