Question:

Has anyone else had issues with Vonage cancellation?

Tried to cancel my Vonage. Really didn't like it. Really didn't want to have to deal with someone telling me what a mistake I was making. Vonage acknowledged my cancellation request by email, but wouldn't cancel unless I called. They ran the bill up by $90 then cancelled me for nonpayment. Anyone had this problem, and if so, what did you do to get Vonage to LISTEN?

  1. yes....!!  I have read your post with interest!!! and I feel for you .....!

so I will post a reply and some tips on HOW do deal with Vonage....and all the others too....!

    1. most VoIP providers do not pro-rate when you cancel, so cancel around the 15th of the month...

    2. VERY IMPORTANT....before you cancel....change your credit card with a virtual credit card number (you can get a temporary virtual CC number from almost any carrier...! I have Citibank CC and they give you a 30-6-90 day expiration date, you choose!! ( yes... its perfectly legal)

    3. the next thing that will happen now, and thats the funny part....Vonage will contact you....asking for the payment....now!!! the ball is in your court.....you tell them that you can canceled 3 month ago.....and Vonage will reply no such knowledge of any one cancel your account!!! ( they are trained to say that)

    4. this is the only way to deal with them.....they get what they deserve, and you are not out of your money!!

keep in mind that Vonage makes alot of money from disconnection .......cancellation fees and keeping ppl money from the credit cards!

  2. I am in the same boat you are I am going file a complaint with the better business bureau.  I had vonage and they could never get it to work properly finally I decided to cancel and the person I spoke with advised me to write a letter to their dispute dept since he read the account on how many times I have tried to get it to work. I didn't even get a letter in return the only correspondence I received was an email stating my account has been closed and they have attempted to get 130.00 from my credit card only the transaction is not going through, and have continued trying to make the charge go through 3 times.
