- think about it, both were/are hard working players, idolized hockey at a young age, and both were/are amazing with the things they did/do with the puck.

  1. umm most NHL players have to work hard to get were they are. if they dont then they dont play. also, if a nhl player didnt like hockey then they wont be playing hockey.

  2. You just described 80% of NHLers.

Lafontaine didn't have half the skating ability that Ovechkin does.  Lafontaine was a great passer who possessed better than average scoring ability.

  3. You desctribed alot of players. LaFountaine was more of a great setup guy. Look at the tandum he formed w/Moginly

  4. ok, that described almost all the players.

  5. Combine those two, add ten other Hall of Famers like Steve Yzerman, and you have Wayne Gretzky's work ethic. If you've ever read just how long and hard he worked as a kid on bounces, angles and skating, you'd be impressed. Well into each night after school in their backyard.

We always think of Gretz as gifted, but he is the product of some of the hardest work ever, and he credits his father.
