I noticed tonight that the bread at Subway has actually "shrunk" in size? Seems hamburgers at McDonalds also have shrunk.

Is this a new "ploy" to trick us into believing we are still getting something for a good price, but are being given "less"? I noticed also lately that Bleach is not being sold by the gallon anymore? Same low price, but a plastic container that now holds less than a gallon.

Do these companies believe we will not eventually figure out what they are doing to us consumers?

  1. no but i noticed the last time i ate at subway the bread was disgusting in flavor and the tuna was gray. i would never go back there, ever. (true story).

  2. uggg i know i know....that makes me so angry  i eat subway everyday. everytime they cut the footlong to a 6 intch i get the smaller half.....d**n it

  3. It's called downsizing and it's been going on for quite a while.  The "big" rolls of toilet paper are what used to be just regualar rolls.  It's like a game, a ploy to rip us off.  THey spend so much $$$ making all these different sizes that they'd be better off just keeping it the same.  Like canned veggies, they used to be 16 oz now they've gone down to like 11 or 12 oz over the years and they have to change the can size too.  That costs money too I suppose. It's disgusting.

  4. Unfortunately, what are you going to do? I mean, I have noticed this, but if you want Subway you can't really do anything about it. It probably saves them a lot of money and allows them to stay in business comfortably. We're in a recession, after all.

  5. Its just like the price of gas.  As high as it is now, I would like to see $3.00 a gallon gas.  I wouldn't have said I'd like to see it at $3.00 a year ago.  Its there way of tricking us to settling for higher prices.

  6. Subway actually did this to reduce the carbs in all of their product.  It is more of their push to be the number one healthy fast food place.  Ane the last time I had the tuna, it was very good and the bread tasted fine.  Must be the water.
