during the last year i have had 18 calls to premium no.'s charged to my bt bill. These calls were not made by me and bt cannot tell me to whom the calls were made although I am told that the number is allocated by them. The calls are usually made in blocks of 3 - 6 and are very short duration 10 - 20 secs often on a Sunday midday- ish. The number called is 09011 333221 a premium rate no which is apparently allocated for eg to online competitions etc. The premium no. dept., phonepay plus, who can check the origin of a number also cannot find out to whom this number is allocated. Has aniyone had similar experiences or does anyone have any sensible ideas about this ocurrence. Thanks, sue green

  1. what you can do is get bt to get the calls sent off for investigation the bill would be suspended until his has been done you can also go to this link to make a complaint about the number

      http://www.phonepayplus.org.uk/numberche...

also ask bt to but a premium bar on you phone which is free of charge

  2. I tried this number on phonepayplus, it tells me they have no information on it. This means it is not allocated to a particular company at the moment.

The first stage is to work out how the calls are being made. BT have systems in place which can prove where a call originated.

When investigated, the vast majority of these type of disputed calls were actually made from the property concerned.

So the first thing to do is to be sure that there is no way the calls were made from your phone. This does not just  mean that you personally  did not make them, just that they came from your property.

Is there anyone else who could have dialled this number?

Is anything else connected to the phone line that could have dialled this number? (Some examples: Incorrectly programmed Sky box; Burglar Alarm; Computer with trojan/virus etc) Given the short length of the calls and the timing, I would bet this is what is happening.

If you are 100% sure, you should contact BT customer service. However, they will investigate quite thoroughly.
