Question:

Has anyone else out there received a "check" from Northwest Securities out of Toronto?

I know it's a scam, but I'm wondering HOW they manage to pull this off???

Does anyone out there know?

  1. Yes, i did get one about a year ago. The way they do this is to steal the checks from the companies, or they print their own checks but with legit companies names on them. They usually use checks that are payroll or checks that are for payment of some sort of business, so the check is an actual valid check, with valid funds, its just that the person or company's name whom the check was originally wrote for has been changed to what ever name the scammer replaces it with, like for example YOURS! This is all fine, and yes allot of them can be cashed- but of course when the company finds out about the check- and they will- YOU or whomever cashed it, will be held responsible for paying back the funds to your bank, because your bank will reimburse the company that the check was stolen from, and then blame you and take it from your account, if you have funds to cover it, and if not then every time you deposit cash, they will take it until it's paid, otherwise sue you for it, garnish your paycheck etc.... Also you can be criminally charged with fraud or theft. Never cash one of these checks!!
