Has anyone else taken Prozac and Wellbutrin together?

Today is my first day on wellbutrin with Prozac, I have been taking Prozac for three years but it started to not work as well a few months ago so My psychatrist put me on wellbutrin also thinking that it will help me get some energy back and interest in life and my family again. Today I feel like I am on SPEED>.not a good feeling. Feeling panicky and disorganized. Please tell me if any of you have had this or if it went away..I feel helpless b/c I need to get better but the side effects make me just as bad as the severe depression I have. I am currently on 20mg prozac and I started 100 mg wellbutrin today. any help please.

I take Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) in the evening - and that works very well for me.



The Wellbutrin SR *does* help me to be more active during the day, but it's been a while since I started and I don't recall any bad side effects.  You might continue taking it for a few days and see if that goes away - sometimes when you first start taking meds it does take a while to get used to them.

Feeling panicky and disorganized is probably nothing.

Its most likely all in your head.

The one thing that really helps me get through the day is taking 100 mg of wellbutrin xl 100 mg  and 40 mg of prozac.

Wellbutrin has slightly alleviated my anxiety.

Prozac make me  feeling better within a few weeks of treatment and  has slightly alleviated my depression.

My doctor told me that the full effects of the two medications may not be evident until several months of treatment have passed.Then so far so good! I am waiting for long terme use.

I would suggest if you are taking all those medications, assuming your doctor has prescribed them if you have questions whether they are a good cocktail ask the prescribing doctor. Seems that those medications would work well with each other, I would " if it were me " find out about why you were taking 2 anti depressant's. Sometimes depending on what your diagnosis is that can be something that triggers more issues with mood swings or episodes. Taking more then one mood stabalizer or anti depressant sometimes isn't always the best way. But then again it depends on what your mental health is and what your doctor and you have come to understand about where you are and where your headed. So with that, talk with your doctor.... it's truly up to you.

Yes, I have taken both, the same doses you are on.  I did NOT feel like I was on speed.  I had no more or less energy after the Wellbutrin was added to my Prozac.  That panicky and disorganized set of symptoms should pass in a couple of days.  If the symptoms do not pass, then tell your doctor and he/she can take you off of the Wellbutrin.

My husband takes 20mg of the Prozac and 300mg of the Wellbutrin and he never had that problem. Well he did feel so good those first two weeks and then it settled back down.

It may be the meds and then again it may just be one of those days. Keep an eye on it and if you have too much trouble call your doctor.
