Has anyone elses baby had undescended testicles?

My baby boy was born with his testicles too high in his s*****m and they still haven't dropped, he is now coming up to 4 months.

At my 6 week check they told me that if they haven't dropped by the time he is 1 year old, they will have to operated on.

When will they next check him because nobody has bothered telling me anything.

If he has to be operated on, will this affect his chances of having children in the future?

Thankyou.

  1.  My son was full term but had undescended testes and required surgery. The urologist said it would be good to wait and see if they descend on their own by 6 months, which I had prayed they would, but they didn't. If they are going to descend they usually do by that time. He also showed us how the testes were stuck in the groin area.  So we scheduled my son for surgery at 9 months. The surgery went well and everything looked great and he healed well. He is now 2, and you can't even tell he had surgery. It was important to get it done early because the older he gets, the higher the risk of problems like cancer and infertility later on in life. Plus he won't ever remember this surgery. I don't agree with the comment above that the t******e won't be working if not descended by age 1, our urologist never said anything like that. However, I believe by age 1 would be ideal.
