What is your view of the program?

We are enrolling our 11-month old in the lessons, and I want to have some feedback from people who have gone through the program if possible.

Thanks

  1. My baby girl started at tadpoles (3 months - 15 months) she is now moving to ducklings early, it's basically singing a lot of songs and getting them used to the water how they get in an out of the pool, putting them underwater make sure they are comfortable in it, they then become comfortable lying back and putting there ears in the water becausebaby'ss can find this quite distressing.  They love the songs the splashing and it's good fun so hope you enjoy it as much as your 11 month will

  2. It was a long time ago and we went to something called toddler Gym and Swim.  It was great.  One piece of advice,  check out the locker room to see if it has a warm dry safe place to put the baby while you dress.  A lot of "Ys" are set up for adults in the locker room and there is No place where you can put the baby down except on the wet tile floor. In one Y where we went I literally stuck her in an empty locker.  They were mesh doors so she could see me and I could see her and she was safe and dry.

  3. Not sure what Aquababies is exactly but I have had my sons in the pool since about 3 months of age. Til 6 months it was more about water familiarisation than learning to swim but they both just love it and it tires them out so they have a nice big sleep afterwards! My swimming teacher told me that the longer you leave it, the harder it is to get them in the water as they will learn fear. (You know, kids around water and people sayeig "Don't get too close, you'll fall in" That can apparently freak a child out and they learn to be afraid of the water as they don't know why they can't fall in!! - hope thatmade sense!!)

  4. I put my son in Splash school  it is alot of fun he is in his second term and is nearly 7 months (started at 3 months). I enrolled for aqua babies but the pool near me no longer held it.

  5. I've often thought about enrolling Grace into Aqua-babies, but decided against it.

I take Grace swimming quite often and she loves kicking and splashing about.  I dunk her under a couple of times to get her used to water on her face and to teach her to hold her breath.

I like to take her and teach her myself - ok, it's less structured, but we get to take things slowly, it's more personal and it helps create a greater bond between ourselves.
