I was just thinking back to when I first told my boss that I was pregnant with my daughter. The first thing she said was, "Is this what you wanted?" I immediately felt insulted that she would even ask such a thing. I just told her, "of course, why wouldn't it be?"

  1. I don't think anyone ever asked me that before.  I remember my aunt saying once, when my newborn daughter was screaming in the background, "Remember, this is what you wanted".  It was insulting.  It IS what I wanted, but that doesn't mean I have no room to complain!

  2. I was taken back the first time I was asked too, but it was by my family doctor.  It took me a while to realize that he was asking about my mental well being, if I was happy with my life, not trying to put me down.  She was probably just trying to figure out if you were happy about the baby or surprised.  Let it go.

  3. No I have never been asked, but people can be insensitive and selfish.

  4. yes, by my husband when he was my boyfriend in high school and then he asked me again right after my college graduation before i got pregnant.

  5. I wasn't really asked per say...

I was on the phone with my sister one day when I was pregnant with my twins and I was around the 8 month mark so my back was already killing me (I've always been petite so suddenly being pregnant with twins was like a huge change) and I was complaining to my sister who said,

"I can't believe you actually want to be going through this" and I stopped, was slightly offended, realized this was coming from the same girl who had sworn off men when she turned 30 then said,

"Well I guess we both want different things"

  6. No, I was never asked that.

Before I had my second daughter , my first one was almost  5 years old, I told my husband I was going off the pill. He looked at me like I went crazy. Well, I did and had her.

About a year & a half later I was having some problems & went to the doctor. I was told I need a hysterectomy & the doc asked me if I wanted another baby. I told him I had  a baby at home & he said if you want any more this is your last opportunity. It's now or never.

Of course I wanted a son, but not so soon after my second daughter.

On my drive back home I thought about it and when I got home again, I told my husband I was going off the pill.

Well, of course he really thought I'd gone over the deep end and asked me why. I told him I did want to try for that boy & of course he said the same thing I did. "We have a baby". When I told him the doctor said it is now or never he understood where I was coming from & agreed.

I became pregnant & prayed for that boy.

My prayers where answered & I had my son on Christmas Day.

    The best Christmas gift ever.

Eight months later I had to have the hysterectomy.

I would have also been insulted if anyone ever asked me that question.
