i bid for two U2 tickets, and paid £600 only to find the guy selling them had sold them 10 times over and they didn't really exist !

i think £600 is a large sum of money !

and i never got all of it back off ebay either as they take a fee for investigating for you !!!

eriverpipe - I couldn't disagree with you more.  I sell things on eBay including computers which I've sold for up to  Ã‚£900 - people have paid large sums of money for my goods and I have 100% feedback ratings.

I've also bought items for £200 - eBay is perfectly safe if you're smart about things.  If the eBay seller has hardly any feedback, I won't spend more than a few quid.  If they have a continued pattern of high feedback, I'll spend whatever.

I'm sorry about the original poster - I really hope you haven't been ripped off - sometimes you can think you're being smart, only to be conned - I hope that isn't the case with you. :(

If you even considered using e-bay for a purchase involving a large sum of money then you deserve to be conned....

No, I never buy high value items, always check the feedback, double check the description and if there is ANYTHING dodgy I don't bid.

I was going to buy an expensive item off of one guy, from his e-bay shop, but he asked me to pay into a personal account instead.  I refused and never heard from him again !!!

Yep, £90 pound which is a lot to me. eBay did not want to know but I checked out all the people who had given adverse feedback for the seller& built up a dossier. eBay were still not interested but all agrieved banded together & we got in touch with the post office, police & even the FBI with contacts in America.

After 18 months some people got money back and satisfyingly the seller was removed from eBay. eBay only care about money and are not bothered about the small buyers and obvious rip offs that stare them in the face
