I have been doing mystery shopping for six months now and the company I just did an assignment for thinks I may have been identified. What does this mean? Will they terminate my contract?

  1. It is possible you have been identified as the mystery shopper. You should not be terminated, but it may affect the internal rating that Company uses and you may not be offered shops for that Client. On the other hand, I would speak to a scheduler at the Mystery shopping Company because on two occasions in my 2,000+ shops/audits, it was said I had been identified. As I have an English accent, I am easily remembered. I checked with the scheduler and it turned out that the employees had misidentified the shopper!

I cannot breach site rules and provide a link in Yahoo Answers, but I would happily do a free search for contracts in your area if you if you can email me your City, State, and Zip Code.

  2. It means that someone in the company being evaluated by you has probably realized that you're doing a report on them.  That somehow ruins the evaluation because the employees will likely give you special treatment.  It doesn't mean that your contract will be terminated, but they might ask you to evaluate the service at another store/branch/location or at another company.

  3. you will not be treminated, they will just give you a lower score.  If you normally get high scores, you'll have nothing yo worrie about.   You may not get paid for this shop depending on who you shop for.
