Has anyone ever been scammed from someone by Craigslist?

Or has anyone had something bad happen while buying something?

Several times when I've sold furniture on craigslist i've gotten emails from people saying they want the piece, sight unseen and to please take it off the market.  they say they will send someone to pick it up, and want to send  a cashiers check so to please give them my address, name and phone number.  my brother warned me to beware of this scam (they have personal info on you, they give a false check, i don't know...it's apparently a common scam) anyway, he suggested i give the phone and address of the local FBI office instead of mine, ha.  

Also, when we were selling our truck we got an offer from a company who promised to sell it quick and make us a lot of money...it reeked of scam scam scam.

If you haven't already been ripped off (and i hope you haven't), be really sure to watch for signs of scams (don't take checks or cashiers checks, cash only) and make sure you see/try out things you buy before paying for them, and don't give out ANY personal information or do any deals by mail.

Mostly though i've had really good experiences with buying, selling and working through craigslist in a few different cities.
