But I just want to know what the place is like. I am 17 and I bet there is probly nothing for me to do. Has anyone every been there who could tell me what it is like? Thank you!

  1. Well, Cortes Island is a nice place to relax and get away from the rest of the world but if you are looking for a party spot, that isn't the place to go.  If you are into water sports and scuba diving then you will be in your glory as well as fishing for salmon and shell fish, therwise I am afraid you might be bored.  The drinking age in BC is 18 and there are pubs there but mostly for the locals and the occasional visitor.  The closest city is Campbell River where you will catch the ferry to Quadra Island.  You then drive to Heriot Bay where you catch another ferry to Cortes Island.  I wish you luck.

  2. Haven't been there yet but live near it and have met a few people who live there. Lotsa old hippie types, very artsy place, some unique people. It's pretty quiet, not a lot of people live there but August will be as busy as it gets. Hope you're into outdoor stuff and boats, and bring some reading and a good pocket-size flashlight. Maybe your cousin can round up some local teenagers for you to meet. It will be quiet, but those small islands can have a surprisingly lively social life. The drinking age in BC is 19.
