Has anyone ever been to Ed Debevic's before? Is the service really bad like what the joke says?

It's a fun place to go. The food is great and the restaurant has alot of retro stuff to look at. As for the service, it is not "bad" as in terrible. What the wait staff do is mess with you. Once a waiter sat down at our table and said he needed a little break. Another time a waitress brought all the silverware and dropped it on the table and told my Mom, "Pass these around will you honey?" Go and have fun.

Yes, the service is bad, but that is what you come for. You have to go in with just a fun attitude and expect to be picked on and treated badly. When you go up to ask for a reservation, they will probably ignore you or be really short with you but you can't take offense to it. If you aren't expecting it you might be really put off by it. When I went I was kind of annoyed that they treated us so bad right away, I expected to just be teased by our waiter and not by the hostess right away.

Your experience depends a lot on your waiter too, b/c ours was really not as rude as I expected. It's mostly just a joking kind of rude, and you have to ready to be kind of snotty back. When we would talk back to her, she would start to crack a smile so it just showed that they were having fun with us.

The food is awesome though, I had the best mushroom and swiss burger i think i've ever had. super fattening, but thats the best way to have it.

The servers dance on the tables for you too, and you get fun hats so overall its just a fun experience that you can't take too seriously.

It's pretty overpriced for burgers, and the entertainment isn't too hot either.

i grew up in a place that was what eds tries to be and i just felt like it was all scripted or something just too fake for me

their actually really funny in how they do it, and they never say anything too offensive. The foods great, loved the chili.
