Has anyone ever been to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico?

My husband and I are going this month. We haven't been on a vacation since our honeymoon 9 years ago! I'm so excited. We're staying at The Reef Playacar. Any "don't miss" activities? Resturants? or Must dos? How do I pay my gratitute in Espanol that is more creative than "muchas gracias"?
