The red light district is creepy....prostitutes everywhere. Some beautiful, others not so beautiful.

  1. No.

  2. lmao my aunt and cousin went on a Europe trip kinda thing and that was one of their stops, they told me all about it and they thought it was nice but the Red Light District was weirdd

  3. Yes, I've been there, and yes the Red Light District is creepy. The creepiest thing is that the "pimps" kept calling out to the guys "we give student discounts!" We were on a high school trip, & the little rebels in the group (like me) decided to go check it out one night. One word for it: ew.

Anyway, there's a lot to love about Amsterdam.....the tulips, the bridges, the awesome museums, cafes, cool people, sweet shopping & the like, and it's a pity hash & the red light district are the 1st thing everybody thinks of. The poster above who said the prostitution is almost everyone is unfortunately correct.

Btw.......I didn't bother watching the 1st video you linked because it looked like it would be ew, the link to the 2nd one is broken & the third video, "w***e in the Red Light District" is 18+. I'm 16 & so not interested.

Duuuuuude. Be a gentleman & don't post stuff like that where girls have to go ew! when they click your links.

  4. Another "drugs and/or prostitution" question about Amsterdam (yawn)

Yes I go there every week or so virtually and know and love Amsterdam for the city that it is and not for the stereotypical comments of people who have not even bothered to visit first hand or stepped out of the first coffee shop/red light district they walked to

Amsterdam is a lot more than just this couple of streets. You can easily avoid it if you find it so "creepy"! At the end of the day, if you require the "services" of a prostition, do you really care how she looks?

BTW - every major city in the Westernized world (and beyond) has streets where prostitutes hang out. At least in Amsterdam and the other countries in Europe where it is legal (yes there are others!) then it is regulated and clean, and they are not walking the street putting themselves in danger...... that is beyond creepy!

Most people who I know which have visited Amsterdam have of course walked through the area during the day/early evening to get their own perception and come away not as shocked as they imagined. Most commented on the fact that the women looked bored rather than beautiful/ugly! Yes you can walk away with a negative opinion, but at least visit it first hand rather to form this opinion.

... but ok this is not what you want to hear of course.!

  5. The 'red light district' with its traditional window prostitution is the safest neighborhood in the city. The creepiness is just in you head. Really creepy are districts with lots of office buildings after 5 PM.
