Question:

Has anyone ever been to the Rhone Glacier in Switzerland?

I went there a couple years ago with a group and I didn't get enough info about it. (Plus my camera broke)

Did you go? Did you enjoy it? What other nearby areas would you suggest I try to get to?

  1. the Rhone glacier is located at the very east end of Wallis between the Furkapass and the Grimselpass. it's nothing special and not a must see (i was there more than once :) ).

instead i would recommend to visit the Aletsch glacier, where you can hike in the Aletsch forest along the glacier. the Aletsch glacier is located less than 25 miles south-west of the Rhone glacier just above the Riederalp (near and above Brig, direction north).

another suggestion is Zermatt with the world famous Matterhorn. Zermatt is on the opposite side of the valley, from Visp direction south (Visp is only 8 miles from Brig direction west).
