  1. You're right to be afraid of that.  It's either a scam or just plain stupid.  Good breeders would keep the eggs until they hatch and then keep the babies until they're weaned; this way, they ensure the safety of the babies.  If they shipped the eggs, the babies are likely to die before hatching, and even if they somehow somehow survive the trip all the way to your house, do you even know how to handfeed baby birds of the size of whatever parrot species you're looking for without killing them?

  2. Bird eggs need to be kept warm and usually if not in the care of the parents nest they are placed in an incubator.

I would not trust any one to send me a viable parrot or any other fowl egg as they cannot guarantee the continuity or viablility of the egg and the chances of a bird ever hatching out of it are next to nil.

  3. I know a breeder who buys eggs and has had all hatch out healthy BUT she has been doing this a long time and only picks out eggs from other breeders in person and has a vet come to her place to test for diseases and vaccinate against them. I am also a breeder and would never put an egg in my incubater from an unknown source the internet is crawling with scammers. Day one feedings are very labor intensive but on top of that ad the possibility of unknown genetic disorders and or illness...way too much of a risk any way you look at it! You should just stop looking into it I have chosen not to take this risk because I refuse to fatten up the wallets of the internet scammers and keep my small aviary disease free!

  4. If someone had a parrot that laid some eggs why on Earth would they want to sell the eggs before they hatch? It would make them more money to allow the egg to hatch & sell the bird.

  5. You most likely will be scammed.  I am a breeder, and trust me, a reputable breeder does not sell his eggs on the internet.  You have no way of knowing what you are actually getting or if it is fertlile, or if it will live through shipping.  Never buy anything living over the internet.  If you must have an egg, find a breeder near you and see if you can buy one of his.

  6. You should be afraid, you should be very afraid. This is the oldest scam. It is fool proof. They mail you infertile eggs that didn't hatch. How would you ever prove in court that the trip to your house in the mail didn't shake the egg up so it wouldn't hatch? It is a win, win situation for the seller. They state up front that they can't garuntee either the fertility or viability of the eggs do to handling by the Post Office.  There is no way to tell if the egg is fertile until it has been incubated for 3-5 days. Then if they are a viable egg you will see the veins and the embryo it's self by candling the egg. How could they ship the egg to you if it has done started to be incubated? Save your money.

A scam depends on two things, someone looking for a ham in trade for bologna and them being gullible also. By that I mean that you want for instance a Blue and Gold Macaw but,you only have money for a cockatiel. You are wanting a parrot for a parakeet price. Always take five minutes before any DEAL and ask yourself, "is this to good to be real?" if it is then run.

I raise parrots to make extra cash. I am on disability and it helps a little. Why would I sell a Yellow Nape Amazon egg for $100, when I can let the parents hatch it out, feed it for three weeks at which time I take over feeding and take care of them until it is weaned. At which time I can sell for between $1,000 - $1,200?

Beware of these good deals. Some even send them in a little one egg incubator like you see in a kindergarten class.

  7. Lest us we forget on top of everything already mentioned - the only legal birds/eggs allowable to be shipped USPS are fowl (Quail, Ducks, Turkeys, Chickens, etc.)_ anything else is illegal; and if asked to declare what is being shipped when you pick them up, the buyer often asks you to lie to USPS

  8. I have a friend who brought a parrot this way and she was so sorry it takes a LOT of care and time  you must keep the egg at the right  the  temperature, or you will scramble it and once it hatches( if it does) more care is needed to feed  at all different times be sure you understand what you are getting in to... some times the chicks are born handicap and they must be destroyed  that's the sad part.... breeders keep breeding to make money  they inter breed and that is why there are  handicaps

  9. Most likely....You will be Scammed...I wouldn't take the chance.

  10. Chances are YOU WILL BE SCAMMED...only deal with breeders & those you KNOW are reputable...you should join a few online bird groups to begin connecting with the legitamate individuals...Personally I do NOT encourage egg sales or young being sold before weaning age....BUT you should at least TRY entering the proper environments BEFORE simply wanting to just BUY EGGS...'

I suggest you try Yahoo groups online...do a search for avian bird groups...www.birdboard.com is an excellent site to begin...

  11. ive never hered of anyone buying parrot eggs??????
