Has anyone ever changed the valves in an engine?

i am very mechanically inclined but i have never replaced the valves in an engine and i am wondering what i am facing. it is a 2000 vw beetle 2.0L engine. can you briefly tell me what i am getting into???

  1. Just one step more then doing a head gasket.


  2. nothing too hard get like a Shelton book and it will tell u exactly how to do  it

  3. Remove the engine from the VW....Remove the heads....remove the valve springs, valve seals and valves from the heads..... Each valve has to be seated in the seats as you install them in the heads with new valve seals.....You will also have to put new head, exhaust, and valve cover gaskets when you put everything back together and also torque the headbolts when you put them on.Then just put the engine back in. If you have problems check with your friendly mechanic for a little help. They are always ready to tell you how smart they are. No kidding they can help you.
