Has anyone ever declined the nomination of the U.S. President at a convention?

I mean come on...Who wouldn't want to President and after spending millions of dollars on campaigns, a lot of time and effort on getting speeches written and said and so on and so forth.

  1. There have been presidents who refused to run for re-election and have their name listed at the convention.  LBJ's famous announcement after the Tet Offensive that he would not accept the Democratic nomination for 1968 election is one example.  John Tyler refused to run for president after finishing the term of William Henry Harrison.
