Were you part of the voir dire, or screening process?

Were you dismissed or chosen to serve on the jury?

If dismissed, do you know why?

If you chosen, did the case go to trial?

If so, how long did you sit on the jury?

What type of court was it - county court or state court?

Was it a Grand Jury or Petit Jury?

Was it a criminal or civil trial?

What did you learn about the court process?

Did this you feel you were fulfilling an important civic duty by serving?

    3 days

    County

    Criminal, DUI

What did you learn about the court process?

When you are on a jury, it is serious business. A lot is at stake. A person's future and freedom  is in the balance. There was no "victim" this time, but the defendant was in a lot of trouble.

Did this you feel you were fulfilling an important civic duty by serving?

I suppose so. I don't think I want to do it again, but if I had to, I would

  2. I have been called to serve, but not selected.

This would likely be because I answered truthfully that I have some opinions about the law in question.  In each case, one side or the other has been willing to have me serve. But realistically, juries can not be allowed to create or implicitly modify the law as written, even if it violates the charter of rights.

It is very difficult to have people on juries who have been long term members of political parties, without introducing political bias.

  3. I wasn't on "Jury duty" But I am a volunteer juror for the TEEN COURT. I was part of voir dire. You can be dismissed from the jury if you are close friends or know anything about the case before hand. You learn the basic way that a trial runs. BUT- This was just a TEEN COURT. Very small-time compared to real court. They WERE real cases though.

  4. Yes I survived the screening process and went to trial. I

It was County Criminal Court. Petit jury, once for a criminal case that lasted 3 weeks, second time was a civil case that lasted 4 days.  The process is slow moving, overburdened but necessary.

Yes to fulfilling a civic duty.
