Has anyone ever driven down route 66 from Chicago to LA? Was it worth doing?

  1. Yes. As someone else noted, some of it is rather boring. For example, much of the remaining road in Texas is just freeway frontage road. However, there are some interesting sections in southern Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arizona, and California.

    Some people will tell you that most of the highway is gone but that's not true. Some sections are buried under freeways or are abandoned. However, there are still long sections in the states that I listed above. Some states even put "Historic US-66" shields on the route to make it easier to find, but you can't count on finding those everywhere.

  3. I think so....but you can't do the entire route any longer. Some of it just doesn't exist

  4. I wouldn't go as far as splodge.

    A lot of it is flaaaaaaaaaaaat and boooooooooooring.

    If you can ignore these parts it is a great route.
