  1. Claridges is great.

Petrus is good too, but much stuffier.

    Boxwood is more casual.

  2. over-priced, small portions, awful staff - yep I'd recommend it highly

  3. We've been to the Boxwood Cafe and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. I really like the stylish but relaxed design. You need to order two courses if you don't want to leave hungry though. Have a look at www.toptable.co.uk if you can get a special deal, because otherwise it's a tad on the expensive side.

  4. Actually I think each offers a different experience, but none of them are cheap.  Gordon Ramsey at Royal Hospital Road is one of the greatest culinary experiences in the world, but you REALLY pay for it.  Petrus is of an exceptionally high standard too, and not much cheaper.  The Boxwood is more accessible and was designed to with an American Brasserie in mind, and I think is the most disappointing - the menu sounds great - veal & foie gras burger for example - but never quite hits the mark.  And they really stitch you up on sides, charging almost £5 for a spoonful of mashed potato, for example.  Maze is a unique experience with its tapas-like concept.  Can't comment on the Connaught or Savoy as I haven't been there.  In short though they're expensive (in fact, make sure you get someone else to pay!) but an experience worth having

  5. Yes I have in Chelsea and at The Connaught Hotel, I mostly enjoyed The new Boxwood.

The thing with any Ramsey venue is that you've got to be able to afford it to enjoy it.

Might sound weird to put it that way, but I was taken to eat at each of the venues and really enjoyed it. However if I was to be the person paying, I would worry a bit about the bill, and that might make me over critical, (evrybody seems to want to put him down) The thing about Mr Ramsey is that his training and distilling of excellence into his Chefs and Staff is just the best, everyone will be trying and succeeding 100%

But if you have money, then you can go just to enjoy the food and it usually is really good, thats what most of his Customers seem to be doing and when you look around you will see money eating
