Question:

Has anyone ever flown a dog from China - North America????

Besides all the paperwork, shots ect... how was the airline staff???

Chinese aren't excatley known for being animal lovers (especially NOT large dogs) so I am a bit worried my dog will be treated poorly.

Is it possible for the airline to arrange someone that speaks English to meet with you at the airport and step you through everything?

Does someone sit with your dog in the cargo area??

What from your experience is the best airline to use for travelling pets? Remember this is an international flight.. possibly 10-12 hours long... so domestic flight experience isn't really what I'm looking for.

THANKS!

  1. Yeah i would highly advise you use and American or European based carrier, if possible. And speak with someone at the airline and make sure you feel comfortable with it.

Then I wuold suggest a good dose of tranquilizers be given to your dog before the flight.

EVen short flights can be very straining on your pets. Make sure you do alot of research on this.

  2. I suggest that you use either United or Northwest. The dog will be handled correctly. It must be in a suitable crate on arrival at the airport.  Your dog will need rabies shots and a vet certificate of good health. There may be a quarantine period on arrival at the US. If you are in Hawaii, there is a 90 day quarantine period.

No one will sit with your dog in the cargo area. Your dog will be treated correctly, but will not be fed or watered or walked. He will be an animal in a crate. Period. None of the airline cargo people will have the time to mess around with your dog.

    Regards,

    Dan
