Has anyone ever gone to a couples wedding shower?

My husband and I were invited to one this weekend and I just don't know what to expect. I hate going to showers, part of me is hoping it's not fun so my husband will know that I've been tortured all of these years by having to go to them. What are your experiences with couple's showers?

  1. As a man, having been dragged to these hen parties, I find them boring.  I prefer to retire with the guys, drink a few beers and watch the sports on television.  Listening to the hens cluck about their wedding plans, and past wedding experiences bores the tears out of me.  And, those ridiculous games they play.  Can't we guys get a break and not be invited, or just watch the football game in the family room, and let you chicks do your chick thing and chat about which dress is the best color and what hairstyle to wear, and other very important stuff.

  2. I've been to a couple baby shower and a couples bridal shower. They both were fun because you don'ot end up with the cheesy games and there are a lot of people you and your hubby will both enjoy.

  3. it depends how its planned.

some are separate girl.guy activities and some are a big party with gifts

  4. All of them that I have ever been to just end up like a regular cocktail party.  They are much more fun than regular bridal showers because you can avoid the 20 minute discussion about towels and stuff like that.

  5. Honestly. I wouldn't do one of those for my wedding, because a lot of guys hate them.

If I was to do one, then make a cook out for the guys and have the guys have their time & then the girls can have the opening of gifts and eat what they cook. Guys hate watching people open gifts.

My fiance' would hate going to them.

A Jack & Jill shower is usually just the same, without the girly games.

  6. No, I haven't been. Showers with all women are too much fun - I wouldn't want men infringing on all the ladies' chitchat and giggling!

  7. Every couples shower I have been to is totally different than the usual bridal showers.  It's more of a party than anything else.

  8. I like 'em. They're like a cocktail party until you get to the gift opening part. And depending on what gifts are brought, that can be fun too, wink wink.

    :-)

  9. I think couples showers are more fun - they're usually just a BBQ or cocktail party.  Bring a gift that both of them will enjoy - BBQ items (monogramed branding iron, flavored skewers, BBQ set, fancy rubs or sauces, basting brushes & bowls, etc) always seem to be a big hit.  But since it's common, try to find really extraordinary items.
