I'd like to rebuild my credit. So if anyone could recommend a good secured credit card, I'd appreciate it? Do you get approved no matter what?

  1. If you go to this site you can browse the secured cards and see which one appeals to you. When I first started out I got a secured card and every few months they would  increase my credit limit because of on time payments. You could also browse the cards for bad credit on this site.

  2. I work as a credit analyst/underwriter for a credit card company, and I can say not only from my professional experience, but my very own personal experience, that secured cards are very key to building or rebuilding credit. Shay's right about that a lot of the Major Banks such as Citi, Bank of America, USBank, Wells Fargo, WaMu, and Orchard Bank(HSBC) offer them. And it's relatively easier if you already have an account established with one of these banks, though it's not necessary.

Based on my personal experience, Bank of America offers the best overall secured card as far as annual fee, interest rate, and length of time it takes to convert to a regular card. And I personally know people with atrocious credit get approved for these cards.

I posted links to all the secured cards, and hopefully this will help

  3. Not always, but usually.

Most local banks offer secure credit cards.  I know US Bank, Bank of America, and WAMU all offer them.

In almost all cases you get approved.  Each card is slightly different with their underwriting policies.  Usually the branch personnel can answer your questions about them.

    Good luck!

  4. Getting a secure credit card is a good way to rebuild your credit status. I don't know if you know that with a secure credit card you must make a cash deposits usually of at least $200 to start. However, You can go to www.creditcards.com to find a card that best suits you. Good Luck.

  5. If you pay the money to secure the card they will extend you credit. I don't know how bad your credit is, but my suggestion is to apply for an Orchard Bank Card. The reason is that based on your credit they will either offer you a secured or unsecured card. I had a credit score of 570 and I got an unsecured card from them card with only a 59.00 annual fee.
