  1. Never have, because I ride with the traffic not against it. I wish more cops gave out tickets to 'Wrong-Way Willies' (or 'Wrong-Way Wilmas,') because riding against traffic is one of the top 3 causes of accidents.

  2. In Florida at least, if you're cycling on the road, you are required to follow all road laws. This includes lights at night, stopping at stop signs and traffic lights, yielding to pedestrians, speed limits, etc.

At University of Florida, it is not uncommon to hear of someone getting a speeding ticket on their bike, due to the fact that there are several areas steep enough to break 20mph with little to no pedaling effort, which is the campus-wide speed limit.

  3. No I haven't but that sucks. $140 - what a rip. Give someone a badge and they turn into a bully...

  4. To the letter of the law, cyclist ride with the flow of traffic. True. I knew a kid that got a ticket for riding their bike on the sidewalk.

  5. Sounds like you got Bareny Fiefe for a law enforcement officer. However, it is true that you must go with the flow of traffic and you are bound by most of the same rules that cars are bound by. It is also very unsafe. I almost hit some guy doing that and I was on a bike, because I almost hit him head on. Also it freaks out drivers because they may panic, lock their eyes onto you and then hit you. That said, $140 fine seems steep. But just don't do it anymore.

  6. i thgouht you were suppose to ride against traffic so they would see you.. i guess that is walking.. oh well.. that sucks.
