Has anyone ever gotten an x-ray before they knew they were pregnant?

I'm not pregnant, but i was wondering if you got an ex-ray say.. . maybe a week after you conceive.. tops. . . would it do a-lot of harm to the unborn fetus? ? I know that you would def let the doctor know, but has anyone ever had this happen or been in a situation like it?

If you had an abdominal x-ray or an x-ray in an area near the baby, then there is a possibility that the exposure to the radiation may have caused damage.  The first three months are the most crucial time to avoid x-rays.

There are many precautions taken when you get x-rays that reduce the exposure to the radiation.  For example, if you had a dental x-ray, the chances of any of the x-rays affecting the baby are slim to none because the x-rays are aimed to a specific site and a lead apron is laid across the body.  It is always recommended to wait until after the pregnancy to have x-rays, but in some instances it is required.

Not sure if it is the same thing or not, but I had a cat scan while I was pregnant and they knew I was pregnant. They did it to rule out other neurological things going on, because I was having such bad headaches and seeing stars.

If you get an x-ray of your abdomen/pelvis, it could cause embryonic death, or major birth defects.  If you think you may be pregnant, you need to alert the technologist.  If its an x-ray of something like your chest, leg, ankle, hand, etc.  Then there won't be any effects more than likely, but you should still alert the technologist to be shielded properly just in case.

not exactly. my mom had and MRI and a CATSCAN about a week before I found out I was pregnant and she freaked and I stood in the room with her. The tech even asked if i was pregnant.

i had a X-ray 3 weeks before i found out i was pregnant didn't harm my baby took a blood test to find out i was pregnant.you should be fine hun. if it wasnt near your fetus
