Has anyone ever gotten married at a courthouse?

My fiance and I were thinking about doing that in lieu of any other type of wedding. My parents would give us twenty grand if we did that. Plus, it would be easy... I'm all about the easy.

I have not - but my best friend did.

It was them and us as witnesses.  Small, intimate, easy and CHEAP!

If you don't want the 'fairy tale day' and the expenses associated with it I would go the civil ceremony.

My friend was married at the courthouse and regrets it.  My other friend hired a minister to marry her in a park and it was wonderful.  There was only 8 of us there and the pictures came out so pretty.  THere was no reception or anything but it was still magical.

If you're all about the easy, AND you'd get 20 grand out of it, just do it. It's win-win.

I did just recently at the Maywood Court House just outside Chicago, IL.  They take you to aseparatee room from all the other couples so your family & you can still have an intimate setting.  Some women were dressed in white dresses & men in suits.  There isopportunityy to make it special without it being over the top!
