  1. It can happen, I think the actual statistic is .1% according to Bayer (the makers of Mirena), but other studies have shown it to be as high as .7%

There are many side effects of Mirena that they don't seem to advertise including nausea and cramping, depression, headaches and others.  Personally, I was only diagnosed with PPD (postpartum depression) AFTER I started Mirena.

  2. I have studied this in my pharmacy degree..there is 1/1000 chance that you COULD get pregnant...if your iud becomes loose it can cause pain and also sometimes thses things can get infected...which would cause bleeding, fever, sickness and pain.....it might not mean that you are pregnant as it still will be releasing the hormone progesterone. The copper IUD appears to interfere with fertilisation by keeping sperm away from the egg. The hormonal one may do this as well and also seems to prevent the lining of the uterus from thickening, which makes it difficult for a fertilised egg to become implanted there.  I haven't come across any women who have become pregnant...but in my studies i have learned that the egg could be fertilised but cannot attach to the wall of the uterus......is quite unlikely that you are pregnant but test your self.......hope this helps

I asked the doctors about as well as did my reasearch b4 hand and i havent heard ne thing negative about.

  4. I'm thinking about getting on this after my lil one arrives. So I'm very interested in this question.

  5. they shouldn't. for some strainge reason, having something implanted on the uterine wall stops pregnancies.
