Has anyone ever had APX alarm system?

Has anyone ever heard of or had APX (an alarm company like Brinks or ADT)? If so then where they good?

     My grandparents have an APX Alarm.  I did some research after they got it and found out the had a satisfactory rating with the BBB.  They offer free equipment, installation, and warranty, however i found out you end up paying for it through the $40 service for three years.  Also found out either a social security number or birthday is required to verify credit history.  Interesting enough they are the 5th largest alarm company in the U.S.

     When i did some research on other company's i found unless you buy the equipment up front then all the monitoring was about the same ($35 - $40).  Also found out that ADT and APX use the same equipment, Honeywell.  

     If your looking for a decent system then APX is just fine and you can swindle their sales reps for extra equipment (like buying a car).  If you want something burglar proof, than be prepared to throw out some big bucks and look to video surveilance.

They showed up at my door just last week offering a "free system" and it would only cost me 40 dollars a month. They wanted social security numbers and said it was to make sure we owned the house. Either way they didnt get it from me and went on to the next house. I thought it was werid the guy was walking door to door trying to sale security systems. He couldnt even give me the address of where his company was. Only APX I couldnt find anything online about them. Hope I helped.
