Has anyone ever had Irish Poteen? is it good? worth getting/trying?

is this bullocks?

its either that or polish spirit like vodka... which is better?

Its definitely worth trying at least once...!!

It is great for getting you in the mood for a good night...it tastes pretty rotten but every decent drink does...mix with red bull or even blackcurrant works a treat!

I have heard of people getting alcohol poisoning from poítín before but they were all under 14yrs so you should be fine.Enjoy!

Yes, it can be highly dangerous though.

Firstly make sure the source is reliable because poteen thats brewed incorrectly can cause blindness and other serious problems. Its illegal here in Ireland and therefore only available on the black market.. many farmers brew it regularly.

Secondly its not for an environment where people are drinking to get smashed; in this case people WILL end up in hospital with alcohol poisoning.

Thirdly, I wouldnt recommend starting drinking with it; as little as two or three shots can be enough to get very drunk.. therefore its better late in the night when the body is already containing levels of alcohol and its less of a shock to the system. when drunk in moderation in the right situation its effects can be quite pleasant; warm fuzzy feeling and sometimes energetic. Always dilute it at least 50:50, I find redbull a pleasing mixer, but its down to taste.

Lastly, NEVER drink it for a dare or competition to see whos more macho.. someone could easily end up dead! Works best in moderation and on special occasions.

Everything Ive said above is not an endorement of this potentially dangerous drink.. people will make up otheir own mind whether to drink it. If you are drinking it though set yourself strict guidlines.. I cannot stress the importance of this enough!

Edit: Ok its legally a brewed bottle you have, I assume 60% proof - not as dagerous as some of the illegal stuff.. some in excess of 99% proof.

yes drank the illegal brew many times,

better than a fire to warm you up on the cold damp mornings.

can actually buy a form of this now called connemara moonshine not so strong as poteen so as can be sold through official outlets.but has the same warming effect
