  1. as a massage therapist myself, i've had reiki several times. i recommend getting a good referral from someone that you know that's had it done. the practitioner can make ALL the difference. I've had negative and positive experiences with it. good luck!

  2. I've been practicing Reiki for 8 years now, and have had more than my fair share of treatments from fellow practitioners, and I have to say that some of the most dramatic spiritual experiences that I have had have been either while I was giving or receiving a Reiki treatment.

Granted, that the most common experiences are an extremely deep state of relaxation, and slipping into a dreamlike state of consciousness where the energy guides the inner visions.

That being said, I've had several shared visions during treatments - where both the practitioner and the recipient receive the same exact inner experiences. In one case I was receiving a treatment and when the practitioner got to my solar plexus chakra, in my mind's eye I suddenely saw a tunnel open in front of me. At the end of the tunnel I saw 2 little girls who were cousins walking hand-in-hand that I knew to be Dutch in the mid 1600's. I also just "knew" that I was the younger of the two girls. After the treatment the practitioner asked if she could share some of what she experienced, and I of course said yes. (I had not yet said a word, and was still "waking up" from the treatment.) She said that when she got to my solar plexus that she asked her guides to show her any information that would be most significant to the present moment. She then saw a tunnel and at the end of it were two little Dutch girls hand in hand, and that she was the older of the two and realized that I was the younger. We had shared a past life. I would have taken that report from her with a grain of salt, had I not experienced the EXACT SAME THING.

In another instance I was getting a treatment from another friend of mine, and in the middle of the treatment I thought I heard drumming. It became louder and louder until I went to open my eyes to see if there was music being played or what. When I did open my eyes, it was my inner eyes that opened and I found myself in a Native American village. There were men dancing around in celebration of a buffalo kill, and women cleaning the carcass. I heard an eagle call and looked upwards to see a giant eagle swopping down towards me. It came closer and closer in a dive, and as I ducked to avoid being hit, I flinched on the table and came out of the vision. After the treatment was over, again I hadn't yet said anything, my friend said that his spirit guides had offered to share a vision of their village, and he went on to describe the scene exactly as I had seen it. He then asked me if I had seen any eagles, and I said that I had. He smiled and said that he had asked his power animal, eagle, to bestow a blessing on me. Again, I was amazed.

In the course of giving treatments I have seen and communicated with recepient's guides and angels. I have also been "provided" with words or phrases that when I ask the recipient about them turn out to be extremely meaningful to the healing process.

These types of things are actually pretty normal for me when in an energetic healing environment. But clairvoyance and clairsentience runs in my family, so it may be more pronounced with me than with others. However, it is extremely common for practitioners and recipient's alike to have spiritual and psychic experiences during treatments.

    Blessings on your journey!

  3. The wonderful thing about Reiki and some integrated energy sessions is that often the practitioner will offer an introduction group or circle.

In that setting you get the opportunity to learn a little more about energy work, the particular system used, and have a sampling of that work.  Often the practitioner might start the session with a meditation or prayer to set the intention of healing.

If you want to experience more, many of the circles are weekly, or you can set up a personal session one-to-one with a practitioner.

Lastly, there is so much literature available everywhere, in book stores and online, that can give you a very broad spectrum on this subject.

As someone else mentioned, energy work is accepted in many mainstream institutions these days as common practice in the complimentary health field.

In science there is a somewhat new field called epigenetic energy medicine.  Essentially, the scientific field is starting to "prove" energy.

You can open up to this horizon as softly as you like.  Trust yourself and have fun.  It is an awesome world to experience.

  4. Reiki is beautiful. I have been practicint Reiki for 8 years and have received Reiki on many occasions. Twice I was able to avoid surgery for what the doctors thought was cancer but it dissappeared after Reiki and before surgery. On another occasion a tumor the size of a walnut shrunk to a polyp smaller than a pea with a month of treatment. I was also cured of a life threatening condition that I lived with for seven years and doctors had declared uncurable.

Additionally, Reiki is very relazing and does open up your connection to your higher power and to your intuition. It is not uncommon to have experiences of bliss or to have visions connected with Reiki treatments.

  5. I am a Reiki Teacher and teach at a local college, for cont. ed for nurses.  Reiki has been used for stress reduction and pain management as well as being a non envasive healing modality.

Everyone and everything is energy.   When your body's energy is in balance then you are healthy and happy.  I have gone totally mainstream with my healing techniques and faded away from the weird or flaky stuff.  You can check out more information on my website www.reikisanantonio.com  where I have some good explanations for you. and some pictures of my students doing reiki with the Cancer Therapy Research Center.

  6. The reiki masters do not really have the powers they claim.  Thus any experiences is all in your head.

  7. There is some good reliable info on Reiki
