i dropped to many classes since i was going through personal problems like coming out to my parents, them no longer wanting me in the house and harrassing me, my grandfather dying, and having to talk to a personal counselor about dealing with my eating disorders and dealing with health problems.i ended up cracking because of the pressure and subsequently withdrew from the fall semester and not going to winter. its been a very hard year lets just say. the real question is, are these reasons good enough for them to continue my financial aid if i appeal? has anyone else been in my situation? any advice?

thanks

  1. These are plausible reasons to appeal, but what the appeal committee will be looking for is your plan to address these problems in the future.  Are these problems resolved (or close to resolved)?  What will you do to ensure your success if they give you funding for the next term?  Include these kinds of answers in your appeal and your chances of being approved are greatly increased.  Actually do them, and your chances of success in school will also increase.

    Good luck.

  2. Absolutely, these are good enough reasons to appeal, but it is up to the discretion of the school to make the decision to grant you a probationary period for you to rehab your grades.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles.  It was certainly a bad year for you.  You are not alone though.  Everyone will have tough times now and again.  Just take a moment to get your breath and get back on the horse.

Talk to your academic adviser about constructing a good plan for you to make positive progress and get you back on track.

    Good luck!
