  1. You can do whatever you want if you own your own home.  There are several types of vinyl tiles that replicate hardwood flooring...so I could see someone putting that in a family room I guess.  I personally wouldn't think it would be practical with kids since it gets dinged up easily.  I would stick with old reliable laminate floors in a living room myself.  It's easy to install and much more durable.


  2. Vinyl flooring has come a long way.  You can get some really good looking, quality vinyl these days.  Just make sure that the area you are putting it on is smooth, level surface.  The problem I have seen with vinyl is buckling if not applied correctly.  Also, be careful where they put the seam.  If it is a high traffic area, seams can start to separate.

  4.   Sure have and sure do right now. Very easy to maintane  and people with allergies it won t hold dust and allergins like a carpet will.A small low cut pile area rug is sometimes used to make it "softer" in some ares but it s not needed
