Question:

Has anyone ever heard a story about someone being burnt at a thai restaurant when they bring out the soup?

the soup sometimes has a fire under the bowl keeping it warm....has anyone ever been burnt? if so when and where?

  1. I've never personally heard of people being burned by it, but I can see how the risk would be there.  The candle is usually well contained but the steam could probably burn you once you open the lid.  All servers I know usually give you a warning about this.

    I think theres probably more risk of being burned by the table grill when eating shabu shabu, or I have known many people who get burned by those extremely hot skillets and plates that some western restaurants serve certain dishes on.  I'm sure most of them were properly warned though.


  2. i saw somebody tripped with the bowl in hand. no she didn't get burned nor got scalded. but well the soup's (and the noodles) were all over.
