Has anyone ever heard of a DNA test kit available for home use??

I have a friend who is adopted and thinks she has found her birth father....she told me of a DNA test kit that some DNA establishments sell that is available to test at home???? Is this true and has anyone used this and how accurate you felt the tests are??

  1. You have to have this done by professionals and the right equipment. Has to be done in a lab. ( Hospital, ect. )  Jk


  2. Yes I've heard of plenty, but you usually have to send those swabs in to get the results.  They are not instant at home results.  They are very accurate.

  3. Yes, they are available. My friend was afraid that his son wasn't his so he ordered one (not sure where from exactly) and I think he swabbed both of their cheeks and sent away the samples. He found out that he was right and his son wasn't his...

  4. they are available and I have heard they can be accurate but its results won't work for court because a "trained" person has to be the one doing it. Some of those tests have to be certain temperature to be accurate. (thats what our social worker told us concerning a foster child of ours)
