  1. under the skin??? yes , Maggots ! or worm larvae(Cuterebra)

if your neighbor is sure if what he saw you better rush to the vet .

maggots can be a threat to household pets and livestock, but to get infected is that she could have it is getting in contact with another infected cat/animal....

make sure to clean your hand after petting her.

But it could probably be ring worm ( fungus infection)

it can be treated easily , might take time though.

    imaverol ( vet drug)

    Sporyl (Vet Drug)

this is an oral treatment -Griseofulvin microsize

but I use like 4 granules for baby kittens and double for the older cats.

but for the first type or worms I mentioned Vet is a must.

good luck an do update us with your kitty's condition or the vet's diagnostics

do update us with your kitty's condition or the vet's diagnostics if its a ring worm email me and shall provide you with all information I know about it if you wish :)

  2. I think it might be ring worm that your neighbor is referring too. Ring worm isn't actually a worm, it's a fungus, like athlete's foot. It is very contagious to humans and other animals as well. The only way to get your cat better is to have her checked out real soon. It's not life threatening. Please, don't listen to this neighbor of yours. Obviously she doesn't know what she's talking about.
