Has anyone ever heard of an extra sinus pocket?

I am getting ready to have bone graphs done to get dental implants. The doctor said that they needed to consult an ENT doctor because the CT scan looks like I have an extra sinus pocket.

I've never heard of a sinus pocket but i have heard of having an extra bone in the nose... strange things happen but doctors are competent in handling things... most of the time.

Hi there,

What he most likely meant is that you have a "septum", which splits your maxillay sinus into two compartments, rather than one.  This is not an anomaly, since roughly 36% of the population have a fully dividing septum in their maxillary sinus.  Usually this is not a big deal, the surgeon may just need to modify his surgical approach slightly (I am assuming that you have a sinus lift surgery done).
