Question:

Has anyone ever heard of using egg whites for lubricant?

I know Pre-Seed is the sperm friendly lube of choice. But my fertile days are upon us and I didn't order in time. I read that if a lubricant is needed Pre-Seed is it. If that wasn't available egg whites or olive oil were the next choices that would NOT harm sperm. Has anyone ever heard of this? I do not have a mucus problem per say. Just a little dry around the opening. (Sorry, TMI) I don't want to my husband to tear. (Poor guy! He has in the past.) Is saliva also harmful to sperm? And has anyone ever heard of Midnight Primrose Oil? If so, what is it?

  1. Saliva is a no.  It can kill sperm.  So can most lubes (except Pre-Seed).  I have actually heard of the egg white thing believe it or not.  I haven't tried it though.

Evening Primrose Oil is a suppliment sold at GNC or other drug stores.  I believe you are only supposed to take it from your period until you ovulate, and then stop.

    Hope this helps!

  2. go to a pharmacy and get some real lube. you absolulty do not want egg whites down there, i wouldnt go about trying the other things either. if your real desperate talk to the pharmasist, but i wouldnt try any of that other stuff. except saliva would probably be ok.

  3. Saliva can kill sperm and i think egg whites are just yuck, keep very hydrated and make sure you have plenty of foreplay to get you lubricated 'down there'

  4. Saliva can kill sperm. Do not use saliva! I have heard of Evening Primrose Oil helping some women with their cervical mucus. It has to be taken before ovulation, and then stopped once ovulation has occurred. It might take several months of use before noticing any change.

1,000 IU per day should be taken

only from Cycle Day 1 to Ovulation.

Do not take EPO after ovulation because

    EPO causes uterine contractions

    which may interfere with implantation.

All artificial lubricants, vegetable oils, glycerin, petroleum jelly, and saliva can kill sperm. There have been recent studies that show canola oil, and baby oil (mineral oil) have minimal impact on sperm, but can increase the risk of vaginal infections. Also, antihistamines can dry up your cervical mucus. Robitussin (guaifenesen) along with liquefying mucus in your lungs, can do the same for cervical fluid. Egg whites can be used as a real lubricant, and is compatible with sperm. You should just be aware of the slight risk of salmonella.

Good luck to you, and lots of baby dust!!!

  5. DO NOT USE EGG WHITES!!! Anything other than lube and saliva is a no go for down there. Just have your guy go down on you and you should be good to go.

  6. Ive heard of people using olive oil but not egg whites. Egg whites sound a lil gross and messy. I would say to try your local s*x shop and I know that if my lil town has one near by there has to be one somewhere close. If not then try the olive oil. They normally care something that is ok for ttc. Good luck!
