  1. white or vanilla cake would be good, as would lemon.

For the layers, spread cool whip or whipped cream on the bottom layer.  Top w/ sliced strawberries, making sure they are pretty at the edge.  Top those w/ more whipped cream then next layer of cake.  Repeat.  leave sides "open" and un-iced so you can see the layers and colors.

  2. Whipped cream.  Use a white cake or Angel Food cake, cut into 3 layers.  Whip 2 cups of heavy whipping cream with 1/2 c. sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla extract & 1/2 tsp. almond extract to very stiff peaks.  Use this between the layers, with sliced strawberries, and pile it on top with strawberries

  3. I have made a few Layered Strawberry shortcakes and i filled mine with fresh strawberrys and Chocolate.

Here is one of the recipes i use--

    2 LAYER STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE

1 box white Duncan Hines cake mix

    1 box Dream Whip

    1 qt. fresh strawberries

    1 c. sugar

Prepare strawberries - wash and slice. Put in medium bowl and stir in sugar. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

Prepare cake - follow directions on box making sure to use ingredients called for.

Prepare Dream Whip according to directions on box.

After cakes have cooled, use a fork to punch holes in top of one cake layer. Drain juice from strawberries. SLOWLY pour juice (half) on top of cake layer. Then put one layer of strawberries. After you place top layer of cake to bottom layer, punch holes and pour remaining juice in it.

Mix remaining strawberries with Dream Whip and ice the top and sides of cake. Put in refrigerator for 1 hour.
